Despite this term being a rather short one, a lot of exciting things have happened! We took a trip to the mosque on Stapleton Road, to help with our RE learning about Islam. There, we were able to ask lots of questions, learn what the fundamentals of Islam are and how Muslims practice their faith.
We have also begun our ‘metacognition’ learning – learning about learning. In Year 6, we are learning how to use a compass – it has been very interesting learning why we need to use a compass when there are so many electrical devices out there that can help us! In one of the photos, you can see that we have been learning how to orient a compass. Throughout this unit of work, we will be planning a set of instructions for another class to follow to find a secret location within the school grounds.
Finally, we have been lucky enough to have two exciting workshops: one from the geography teachers at Clifton High School, all about tourism and another from the students at Bristol University, teaching us how to use and programme microbits.
Next term will see us sit our SATs papers – we are nervous but also rather excited, mainly because afterwards, Lauren will tell us what our Year 6 Shakespeare production will be!
