Hello and welcome to our Year 6 Birch Class page for 2016-17!
On this page, we aim to share our amazing work and photos from our fantastic trips with you. In Term 2, we have a very exciting trip coming up: Treginnis Farm. On the 4th November, we will leave the City of Bristol and head to the Welsh countryside – in fact, the most westerly point of Wales – where we will spend a week working on a farm. The class are incredibly excited for this opportunity; they are counting down the days!
In English this term, Year 6 have been focusing on the book ‘Floodland’ by Marcus Sedgwick. The story is set in a time where most of East Anglia is under water as a result of rising sea levels and persistent flooding. The class have looked very carefully into the main character, Zoe – a young girl around their age, who is on a one-girl mission to reunite with her parents, who she literally lost.
Throughout this unit of work, the children have created some amazing wanted posters and list poems, which we have proudly displayed on our ‘Birch’s Brilliant Work’ wall outside our classroom. Their extended writing has reflected the maturity of this class – they have stepped up into their roles as Year 6s and ambassadors to the school so well.
