At St. Michael’s on the Mount Church of England (VC) Primary School, we are committed to providing a safe and secure environment for children, staff, and visitors, where children and adults feel safe and confident sharing any concerns about their own safety or the safety and well being of others.

We aim to safeguard and promote the welfare of children in our care by protecting them from maltreatment, neglect of children’s health or development, ensuring that children flourish in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care; and taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes.

Our Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSL’s) are:

Interim Head teacher: Mrs Margaret Gwynne

Deputy Head teacher: Mrs Claire Jones

We are all expected to share any concerns we have about about staff conduct around children with the Head teacher.  As in all schools, if there are concerns about any members of staff, this should be shared with the Head teacher or the Co Chairs of Governors: Dr Mary Benton or Janet Bremner

We follow the Bristol Child Protection Procedures  – to share concerns regarding children’s welfare, child sexual exploitation, PREVENT/radicalisation and FGM (Female Genital Mutilation) with our DSL’s, with our parent(s)/carer(s) and with relevant external agencies.

Part of our legal duty to safeguard our children, may also include us needing to consult with and/or take advice from: the Police, Social Care, First Response etc, should the need arise.

If you have  any concerns about a child please come and speak to us.

Alternatively, you can call First Response: 0117 903 6444
