We have had a very busy Term 4 in Reception! At the start of the term we learnt the story, ‘The Three Billy Goats Gruff’. Through innovation and invention the story became ‘The Three Fluffy Foxes’. The children decided to change the troll to a shark and the setting for the story became the sea. After changing parts of the story they then invented a new ending for the story.

We were lucky enough to have The Travelling Kitchen come in to do cooking with our class. The children made a variety of dishes from scratch, all based around the theme of healthy eating. After making the food we invited the children’s parents in to share the food. All of the children happily tried the food they had made.

The children have been really interested in animals this term. Therefore we decided to take a trip to Bristol Zoo. The children were particularly excited to see the wallabies, as a few of them had joeys in their pouches. Not only did we have the opportunity to walk around and see all of the different animals, we also participated in an African experience education session. During this session the children were able to hold a cockroach, tortoise and rat.

In follow up to our visit from our Police Community Support Officer last term, the police dogs came in to see the children. They are looking forward to a visit from the police horses next term.

Reception successfully participated in their first pace egging competition at Brandon Hill. They thoroughly enjoyed rolling their eggs down the hill, with many of their eggs making it to the bottom without cracking.

Check back soon to see what we get up in term 5.
