During Term 3 the children learnt the story, ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’. Overnight a large beanstalk appeared in our classroom with a number of enormous footprints all around it. When the children came in to see the beanstalk they suddenly heard loud banging noises above them. Next they heard a voice say, “Fee, fi, fo, fum, I smell the blood of an Englishman”. They had great fun acting out this story with the large props. The children also planted and grew their own beanstalks.
Our topic during Term 3 was ‘Our Superheroes’. We were lucky enough to have a visit from our police community support officer. She brought in some different pieces of uniform and equipment that her and her colleagues use. The children had the opportunity to try on the uniform and use some of the equipment. They loved listening to her colleagues on the radio and particularly liked being put in the handcuffs. We are very much looking forward to a visit from the police dogs and horses next term. We are also expecting a visit from the fire brigade at the start of Term 5.
The children really enjoyed learning about Chinese New Year this term. After learning the story, they decided which animal they wanted to be and had a race. They also found out whether they were born in the year of the tiger or the rabbit.
