23.10.20 End of Term 1 summary:

We have had a dynamic start to the new academic Year here in Mulberry Class! We hit the ground running in September with our first mini enquiry into ‘Being a Scientist’, which saw us draw inspiration from a painting by Samuel Coleman, ‘St James’s Fair’ (a local market which used to operate in the heart of the city, just a stone’s throw away). We all made market stalls and used different roofing materials to see which material would best protect our wares from the rain. We really enjoyed practising fair testing and recording our evidence.

We have continued in a STEM vein and followed up with another mini enquiry, “Being an Engineer”, and built Ferris Wheels for our market, exploring simple machines and joining techniques.

Another highlight of the term has been our Thursday baking lessons with Ileana. We have explored the science of bread-making, and felt so proud to share our bread with our friends and families.
