The Curriculum Statement sets out the content of the curriculum followed by children at St Michael’s on the Mount Primary School. Further information, including an explanation of our approach to phonics and reading, is included in the Curriculum Policy.
At our school, the children use stories about ELLI and his friends to begin their learning journey and to understand what makes a good learner. There are seven different learning skills represented by seven animals that can help us. In each classroom you will see an animal display showing the skills of each animal. Your child may come home saying that today they have planned like an owl, been a tortoise or worked like a bee! To find out more, take a look at A Learning Journey, which is a sample story. You could perhaps read it with your child.
Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) at St Michael’s on the Mount Primary School is an integrated whole-school approach. Each term has a theme underpinning the core values of our school (Trust, Respect, Unity and Responsibility) linking to our ELLI learning journey animals and behaviour policy, which provides a whole-school focus in which to teach the key PSHE skills.
